Morrisons implement recycling system for plastic bottles
-->Morrisons have launched two vending machines in Scotland and North Yorkshire to accept plastic bottles.
Single use plastics and packaging is a problem that is currently big news. Supermarkets and other industries are beginning to tackle the fact that only 9% of plastic packaging is being recycled by implementing new systems.
Customers can return up to 20 bottles a day to the vending machines and receive 100 Morrisons More points to spend in store. The customers can also donate 10p to their charity partner, CLIC Sargent.
Andrew Clappen, Morrisons group corporate services director, commented: ‘We want to play our part in making sure plastic bottles are collected and recycled. We’ll listen to customers as they use these machines.’
This is fantastic news for the environment and those that have been campaigning. It follows a move towards sustainable printing and paper bags being reintroduced across the industry.
