This year marks a remarkable milestone: 45 years of print excellence. As part of our anniversary celebrations, we wanted to do something special, that captures the heart of who we are.
So, we asked our people:
“What do you love most about working in print?”
From designers and account managers, to directors and administrators, the passion runs deep. Below, you’ll find thoughts from 45 members of our team, sharing in their own words what makes print such a rewarding, inspiring, and ever-evolving industry.
Whether its the joy of seeing a design come to life, the challenge of solving complex production problems, or the pride in creating something that makes real-world impact, these quotes are a tribute to the craft and community that has kept us going strong for 45 years.
Print as a creative journey
“Seeing someone’s vision coming to life”- Sharon Drew, Sales and Marketing Director
” Print brings ideas to life that digital never can, I love seeing finished designs in the real world”- Leanne Bolton Heaton, Graphic Designer
“There’s a sense of purpose and care in print. It’s not just visual; it’s physical. You hold it, turn it over, feel the quality, notice the details. It’s story telling in a layered hands on way. And in a world that’s constantly swiping past the next digital image, print asks people to pause'”- Eve Hanson, Sales Manager
“What I love most about working in print is the tangible, lasting impact of the work. After 27 years in design, there’s still nothing quite like holding a finished piece in your hands- feeling the texture, seeing the colours come to life exactly as intended. It’s a craft that combines precision and creativity, and that tactile quality never loses its magic”- Ian Cheeseright, Design Studio Manger
“Print is more than just a visual experience, it can be touched, smelled and even, at times, tasted. It creates a more lasting impression that digital media simply can’t replicate”- Andy Figg, Graphic Designer
Passion for Innovation and Variety
“No two days are the same! Working for PSL for the last 18 years, I have seen the industry evolve and change based on our diverse customer base wants and needs. The world of print management relies on our team procuring the best quality product, supplying the highest level of service, optimal lead time and most cost-effective solution for our customers. Whilst this can be demanding, it means that every day brings a new experience and challenge to keep the passion for print alive.”- Vicki Duncalfe, Operations Manager
“I love the innovation and the fact you never stop learning of new ways to create impactful printed solutions.”- Wayne Margetts
“The variety of jobs we receive every day is different”- Kerry Crosthwaite, Sales Administrator
“Variety and challenge! One day, I can be working on a retail POS campaign for a major national supermarket, delivering into 600 stores, and sorting a direct mail campaign. The next day, I may be organising a web-printed 200pp brochure, 150,000 copies, delivered within the same originally agreed lead-time, even though artwork is 5 days late! And that’s my second favourite part, making what appears impossible- using all my knowledge and experience- to find a way to make it all possible.”- Adrian Smith, Client Development Director
“I enjoy the fact that print is very diverse which ultimately gives me the opportunity to develop new products for a wide range of clients each day.”- Colin Carter, Account Manager
“Print is so versatile, almost anything is possible”- Peter Goffin, Senior Software Developer
“I love working in print because of the endless opportunities that surround us in day to day life. Whether it be labels on a beer bottle, or wall graphics in your local supermarket, you’re only ever 2 steps away from something which we can supply. The diversity and tactile nature of print brings a sense of satisfaction when the product samples are received and I’m proud to be a part of an industry which still cares about its tradition.”- Sally Whittingham, Group Sales Director- Labels Products
“I like the variation it provides. In the automotive sector, there is so much you can talk to dealerships about as print plays such a large part of their daily business.”- Will Savage, Business Director

“I like the fact that you get to work through the entire project, from concept to final printed piece, and then see the result in the real world.”- Claire Kerr, Account Manager

Every project is an opportunity to create something meaningful, and it’s inspiring to know you’ve been a part of the difference that great print products can make.”- Lynne Clancy, Business Development Manager
“My favourite part of working in print is seeing the finished product come to life. We do such a myriad of products, my favourite ones are things with foil. Still see some speed warning signs we did for one of our customers a while ago attached to lamp posts around the local roads, still strong and bright as intended. Always point them out to my daughter…’We sorted those!'”- Alistair Murphy, Account Manager

“After nearly 20 years in the print industry, I can honestly say I love it just as much as I did when I first started. There’s something truly special about bringing a customer’s vision to life through the power of print.
